The common names of Veratrum Alum are White Hellebore
and Veratrum Californicum. It is found in Middle and Southern
Europe, Russia, Japan and China. This remedy was introduced by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann in 1805. The mother tincture is prepared from
roots and dilution from it.
This remedy is successfully employed in collapse
accompanied by extreme coldness, weakness, pale face and rapid pulse.
There is cold perspiration on the forehead in all complaints. It is also of
service in cholera infantu, purging, vomiting and cramps in extremities.
There is excessive dryness of all mucous surfaces. It is of benefit in
cases of surgical shock also.
