The common names of Passiflora are Passion Flower, Passion
Vine and Maypops. This plant is found in Southern United State.
Passiflora was introduced by Hale in 1875. The mother tincture is
prepared from fresh leaves and dilution from it.
Passiflora mother tincture is most commonly used in nervous
conditions such as insomnia, restlessness, hysteria and nervous
headaches. It is said to be of great service in epilepsy, convulsions and
trismus. It is an efficient anti-spasmodic in cases of acute mania and
asthma.
