The common names of Urtica Urens are Dwarf Nettle and
Stinging Nettle. There are also smaller species of Nettle which are
medicinally aquivalent to Urtica Dioica. This plant is found all over the
world. It was introduced by Fiard in 1936 and proved by Coxe. The
mother tincture is prepared from the entire fresh plant and dilution from
it.
Urtica Urens is indicated in urticaria, dropsical effusions, gout,
burns and scalds. It promotes milk flow in nursing mothers. Urtica
urens is a helpful remedy for ailments of urinary tract and is said to
reduce susceptibility to rheumatic problems. It should be remembered
in erysipelatous inflammation of the extremities and must not be
forgotten in gout and uric acid diathesis.
