The common name of Hydrastis are Eye Balm, Eye Root, Tumeric Root and Golden Seal. It is a small perennial plant usually cultivated in United States and Canada. It was introduced by Hale. The mother tincture is prepared from the fresh root which contains the alkaloids Hydrastine and Barberine. Dilution is prepared from the tincture.
